My Social Life's 180

I have always been a very quiet, shy and a more to myself type person. I was never really social in high school or even college initially. However, I think that COVID deprived me of the even the small amounts of social interaction that I had and needed to get through life, causing me now to have a huge 180 and become a more social person. I recently joined the student life sphere by joining History Club, where I am actually now the secretary of History Club. This would be crazy to me two years ago. Me in an officer position in a school club? Whack.

I am even getting more involved with local volunteering and political groups. I am a proud member of the Northwest Indiana chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. DSA is the largest socialist organization in America. It is a nonprofit which fights for weakening the power of Corporate America, and restoring power to America's working class. Together at NWI DSA, we have come up with a proposal which we plan to put in effect soon to work with the city of Valparaiso to get free parking passes for the city's many downtown workers. Currently in Valpo, downtown workers are very limited when it comes to accessing free parking spaces, a majority of the parking close to the square is paid parking, or limited time parking. All of the free parking lots can be far and in inconvenient walking distance from the square. We plan to work with downtown Valpo workers, and the city of Valpo to see how we can help resolve this issue, whether it be getting the downtown workers free parking passes, or getting them at the least discounted parking in the paid lots.
